4th of July Today

The fun begins days before the Fourth, as softball and baseball teams begin to compete in their annual tournaments.

Thank you for being in Delano!  The Delano 4th of July Celebration - Minnesota's Oldest and Largest 4th of July celebration! is one big fundraiser for the town. It is volunteer organized and volunteer run. Net proceeds are distributed to area non-profit and community organizations. Delano's Spirit of Community in action! Community Building. Non-profit organizations & individual volunteers work together to make the event happen. Local businesses provide sponsorships.

Delano’s Fourth of July celebration is the oldest and largest Fourth of July celebration in Minnesota. Its first known Fourth of July Celebration took place July 4, 195, near Fountain Lake.

Currently the celebration lasts at least four days and includes more than enough entertainment to satisfy every member of the family.

Next is the arrival of the carnival in Central Park, featuring rides, games and an abundance of traditional fair foods, including cheese curds, mini donuts, and cotton candy.

The culmination of the festival occurs on the Fourth, beginning with a 5K race through the parade route, with thousands of spectators cheering on the participants.

Then comes the parade containing floats from local and area businesses and organizations, royalty from neighboring towns and cities, and marching bands and musical entertainment.

And after the parade, people head to the park to enjoy one of the live bands and to save a spot of the evening’s main event, one of the most stunning fireworks displays around.

The Fourth of July Committee consists of representatives of local community organizations: Delano Athletic Club, Delano Lions, Delano Sportsmen’s Club, Delano Area Boy Scouts, Delano American Legion, Delano Area Chamber of Commerce, and Velocity Aquatics.
