Minneapolis Brewing Company

The Minneapolis Malting and Brewery Company erected a large warehouse on the former site of the old engine shed in Delano in 1891. The shed, one of Delano’s oldest landmarks, had been torn down and moved to Willmar.

“This building was near the corner of Fourth Street and Railroad Avenue. It was not a brewery but simply a warehouse for Minneapolis Brewing Company.  Beer at the time was not pasteurized and thus had to be kept cold until used. It was shipped here by rail then kept on ice in the warehouse until delivered. It is not known whether the man with the gun was necessary to guard the treasure”.
