Ziebarth Brick Yard
Edward Ziebarth was born in Germany in 1846, and came with his parents to America when still a child. The family settled on a farm in Franklin Township. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in Company K, 10th Minnesota Infantry, and at the close of the war he returned home and farmed 184 acres in Franklin Township on the north fork of the Crow River.
About 1875 he established a brick yard on his farm, employing eight men in the operation of the yard, and during rush season he employed seven additional men.
Delano’s buildings for which he furnished brick include the Eagle office building, the J.W. Packer building, the Delano City Hall, the Swedish Mission Church, St. Peter’s Church rectory, the Stralka building, the Henk Drug Store, and practically all the brick residences in the area close to his yard.
